MaxdB's playlist...

Played guitar in a few little bands played in a 70's coverband, and loved drumming for fun later.
Raised the band 'Undertow' (later U-Tow), you'll find most songs in my music list.
I loved composing at home and then workin it out with the band, and the other members did contribute songs and their share.
special thanks to:
-Leen van Gijzen(voc. R.I.P.)
-Rodney Werleman(drums)
-Marcel Remmig(bass)
-Hugo Sipkes(git)
-Lawrence Payne(voc)

I really enjoyed doing all the recordings with my Yamaha 44-16 dig. recorder and my laptop.

All other songs are me and my PC, but that's another story,

i like composing, playing and recording, and love to have feedback of any kind, tnx in advance.

Happy Valentine

This song isn't about anybody in particular... just because of the name "Valentine" doesn't mean it's about someone with that name... I mean... that's just coincidental okay?!

....

anyways, I plan to re record this song... I'd like some ideas from my fellow bandampers... please... go ahead, add ideas, please tell me if this song works for you, and how you'd like to hear it :) I'd love to incorporate all comments for a new version :)

ah hear the phone rings
time for a night out
fragile hearts await to break like glass on
classy smiles and
aerosol touch of plastic warmth
enthusiastic spasms of a lovelife on the thresh
of lifting off...

she paints her face down with red and sticky glue
wrapped around her eyes it looks like
wings of butterflies
look at all the flesh displayed
all this ecstasy unveiled
"run away with me," her body screams,
"you will be pleased to please, please me"

she's a happy valentine
such a happy valentine

kisses, hugs and funny talk
electrifies the air
look at her attention span,
"what with who and why and where?"
a gazillion pretty friends to give her
all the love she needs
in the centre of the universe she says:
"it's just ol' silly little
ME"

it's a happy valentine
such a happy valentine

enjoy ;)

please comment... I want to re-do this song, I'd appreciate any suggestions how-to an whatnot, I'd love to make it sound completely different!

You Fool, asFinalAsItGets

I've got a sense of humour, right? Well, just so you know, the mp3 i've uploaded is actually an outtake, and not the real song. (it's close, but it's not quite the real thing.) You'll know the screw up when you hear it. The lead vocal cuts out after the messup. 8)

Here's the real version, if you're interested: http://tonightslastsong.000webhost.info/mp3s/02youfool.mp3 (personally, i like the outtake one better.) (or, try out The Chipmunk Chronicles version found here: http://tonightslastsong.000webhost.info/mp3s/TCC/01youfool.mp3 )

I've been having the hardest time recording the vocals for this new version of the track, most probably because i'm downright sick of the song. I'm so tired of it. I've listened to it hundreds of times, revising it and picking it to pieces. My fingers are blistered. My chest hurts. I think I'm getting sick. Boo hoo, I know. But really. This is the 3rd full go against the vocal brick wall (for this particular recording of music). The vocals weren't excited enough for the last long chorus, and it sounded like I was retarded, so kept redoing them. They're better now, but i'm still not happy with it as a whole. I think I got a little too pop'y and bouncy with some of the parts... an overcorrection for my droning sound that I've fixed. So sue me.

K, so the melody has changed a little. The reason for the outtake is because i accidentally used the wrong note, one from the old melody, and then realized it half a line later. Then it got dramatic. :D

I'm aware of probably 98% of all the faults any of you are going to point out, but that's okay. I'm done with this! But of course, feel free to say anything about the mix that comes to mind.

A scpecial thanks to Avi, for simply pasting a link to a page on musiciansfriend.com, which made me finally just get myself in gear and buy a cheap mic to improve the quality of my recordings. Thanks man :)

And You've Gone and Told Love's Secret (You Fool) eff c version - the outake

verse 1
I want you to come around
I would never ask you anything to hurt you
Open up, love
You've got my heart, there
You've got everything
everything meaningful's wagered in your reckless game
Open up
It's love who's calling

knock at door, Boy responds with, "Who is it?"

chorus
(Mmmm) The stage is a dance in Citadel
And you, you gotta make it hard or sit it out
Everyone is clinging to you,
and I hate it
and you hate it
I would never tell you anything to hurt you

knock at door again, boy shouts, "I'm busy right now!"

bridge
Boy says,
"One, two, three, four,
One, two, three, four,
*sigh*
She's over there again...
Maybe next time...
I guess I'll just sit this one out, too
I dunno... Just sing to myself."

Da da da da da da dla da da
Da da da da da da mm dla da da

Oh, I'm missing you
I want you here
oh, no, maybe...
Oh, I'm doubt us again

verse 2
If I held you 'til stars fell down
from their places in the sky
Would you tell all?
All about everything?
I've got this feeling
I'm dependent, overly.
And if I touch down now,
I'm not pulling back up.
I'm sure of this
Is love killing time?

chorus
(Mmmm) The stage is a dance in Citadel
And you, you gotta make it hard or sit it out
Everyone is clinging to you,
and I hate it
and you hate you deep breath
I would never tell you anything to hurt you

Boy clears throat... exhales...
and walks away.

Verses 1 & 2 revisited
I want you to come around
I would never ask you anything to hurt you
Open up, Love
You've got my heart, there
You've got everything.
Everything meaningful (is wagered in your reckless game.)
If I held you until the stars fell down,
from their places in the sky,
at this point, the song comes to a screeching halt, with the words of realization: "...wait a minute. WAIT!!"
would you tell all,
all about everything?
I've got this little feeling: I'm dependent, overly.
Your love, does it love me?
Your love, does it love me?

Atticboy wrote and recorded this tune today in 3 1/2 hours... On analog equipment in... the attic... where daylight never reaches... and everything is cramped....

Mental Trap

Progressive Rock Song.
This is the re-make of Progressive ( Demo). Now it has lyrics.

I mixed many styles and influences to make it interesting to listen. You will find all kind rock styles, plus some samba and jazz and some ballad part.

The song is long, but I PROMISE you WON'T get BORED.

Really worked hard to make a good sound quality, considering my sources are just my electric guitar with a multi-effect, my $3 mic and my PC.

Wanna thank to PuppetXeno, Sworfish and TritonKeyboarder who gave some advices to improve the sound of this.

Guess the lyrics and vocals are not my strongest point but I did was I was able to.

Please, listen it till the end. You won't get bored. And use headphones if you have, sounds better that way.

      > Iszil

PS: Here goes lyrics:

Let me take you to a place
Where nothing can harm you
No lines between pain and love

Forget about the fear your feel
Clear your mind and then enjoy
Have the time of your life

Music is the blood that
Runs thru’ your veins
Feel it spreading all over you

Warm rushing in
Overtaking your senses
Your soul comes alive!

Run away
Quickly
Rush away
And don’t return

Life is now
As it was then
But you are alone
You have no friend

When you feel a knife
Is stabbed in your back,
Just relax cause it’s me

Don’t try to run or to hide
Cause you have fallen
Into my mental trap

I KNOW

yeah, I know....the lyrics are cheesy, the vocals are pitchy, there are some grave timing and sound quality issues. This was the first song I ever attempted to write and record on my new digital recorder. The drums sound like somebody hitting on paper boxes. I played all the other instruments myself. I have had this song sitting around for a year or so, not wanting to upload it because it had too many flaws and it was intended just to get practice in doing this. I have since re-recorded it a couple times (added a verse, changed the pitch, etc). The chorus came to me in a dream...(I saw an old jazz or blues singer singing it) and decided to try to make a song around the chorus (probably not the best way to do it). I haven't made an attempt to produce it very well....maybe I will. I'm uploading it because a couple friends urged me to do so (do I sound non-committal enough?) Anyway, this helped me learn allot about the process (Man it took ALL DAY to figure out how to get it out of my hard-disc recorder and onto this site....how do you guys do this?). Anyway, here's a first offering.....I have other songs in the works....

This was a BLAST, living out a fantasy as a rapper.......... lmao. If you don't laugh you aint got no funny bone,I don't care who you are that's funny right there.Feel free to sing along! For those who are impatient the fun begins at 1 minute 8 secs.I don't know if this is battle worthy but this post has got me the most responses so I have entered it in the August battle. So like my fellow homie P Diddy says.... Watch'n TV my tumbly gets rumbly
I stumbly fumbly run for the fridge
Not sure what me wants or what me
may need, I take a moment to think
HMMMMMMMMM
I feel a tap on my shoulder and I can
smell something sweet, the aroma
catches my attention, If your hungry
I got what ya need, follow me around
the kitchen
Jelly, Jelly in a my belly
Jelly, Jelly in a my belly
She slowly seduced me, I became
real weak, she said I have a friend
He's real sticky and has big nuts,
He's got a lovely tan
Jelly, Jelly in a my belly

Skippy peanut butter n'jelly
Now I usually would say no but
her sweet nectar had me so........
we went real slow to the counter
As I began to splatter, sweet nectar
on a platter, I asked what's a matter
Her heart raced pitter patter, your
going to eat me, I said yum
Jelly, Jelly in a my belly
Jelly, Jelly in a my belly
Jelly, Jelly in a my belly

Skippy peanut butter n'jelly
Busted a cap in the mistress of the night
I growled and moaned to the very last bite
her death was untimly but she had to go
Now I got's to run to my corner store
ham and cheese they just don't cut it
havin a fire with a hole in your bucket
Sloppin Jelly on soother and Yo I'll suck it
come on everybody recite it

Jelly, Jelly in a my belly
Jelly, Jelly in a my belly

Now don't you think I forgot about skippy
4:20 on the clock, He starts to get lippy
Talkin all this shit I have big nuts
So I silenced the bitch inside my guts
Now all alone cause I killed my friends
I was only hungry it was never the plan
Self hunger I shouted as I took the stand
Pounds his gavel I'm a free man sing it!

Jelly, Jelly in a my belly
Skippy peanut butter n'jelly
Jelly, Jelly in a my belly
Skippy peanut butter n'jelly

E Song

- OTHER TRACKS AVAILABLE AT http://music.mp3lizard.com/cron/ -

first draft of an untitled track in the key of E.

written after I quit my boring job, haven't put drums in yet, because I dislike my drum machine, trying to add some more guitar too.

enjoy

E Song

i'm going far, today, I don't notice anyway
i'm in the stars, lookin' grey
i drop down from mars, to say
i don't want this anyway
i have to sing, on my own

and then i pick up my guitar, and then i sing
and i serenade myself
each single note i play, will knock me off my feet,
so i fall and sing along.

i don't want to be, here no more,i say
i'd rather sit around all day
there's nothing that you could say to make me go,
i'd rather sit here, and take it slow

i'll spin around for days,i know i know nothing anymore
i'm in the stars, and so bored
i resigned today, oh lord, i'm not involved no more no way
i have to sing on my own.

Clockwork

Hmhmmmmm one from the retro archives then...

Happy birthday to me  I joined the club of "ancients" today

This song is actually about how it is impossible to outrun the progress of time, not that the lyrics are that obvious but I had a lot of fun throwing this one together. Features a Boss DR 55 for drums, a Zoom 1010 for guitar effects and a Roland Space Echo on the vox. And that synth is an actual SID Station (Mos 6581 synthesis - Sound Interface Device chip taken from the 80's Commodore 64 home computer - gotta love it!) So please - the production value is just as I want it - except maybe for the mastering applied... It's a retro thing... I dunno...

Just hope you enjoy!

Sudden Sunset(need voice)

The FL track of sudden sunset, of which I need a Bandamper to kindly donate their voice. To most who listen to this, it WILL BE repetative, because it needs vocals.
Oh, and whoever does attach the vocals, either can they mix the tracks together before sending them back or post them yourself, or pass it onto someone who can mix it together.

Hope you enjoy the final product, here's the, as of yet, non existent lyrics;

V1
Far away I saw the sky,
A thousand faces staring back at mine,
Far away I saw them cry,
The rain was falling down on mine,

V2
And I went walking in my sleep,
I started talking to a stranger,
I gave him back what he could keep,
A home that lay inside a manger,

Chorus
As you float away on hell or high water,
You leave us all soaking and cold,
And we live for you to be remembered,
As you died for us to be free,
And you my dear are not a stranger,
You are just embedded in cold,
You may rest now in a manger,
You may rest, broken and old,

V3
I lay here sleeping let me pray,
The air is cold the sky is grey,
I hope the rain will go away,
I think the thunder is almost over,

Chorus

V4
I walk beneath an amber sky,
I tread a ground alive with fire,
I cannot see you through the smoke,
You cannot save, in time we die,

Chorus (in 4/4 time)

Outro (in 6/8)
I know I was broken and bleeding,
I know you were gone,
But I won't leave you coughing and wheezing,
Under a setting sun,
I know I was broken and bleeding,
I know you were gone,
But I won't leave you coughing and wheezing,
Under a sudden sunset the sun is gone...

P.S. Please PM me if you are interested, so I can give a direction to the vocals (not very technical, just basic, still allowing artistic interpretation).

March

This is another FL track, although, soon, I'll start fiddling about with the effects and such to make these tracks more interesting, I've got some VST's that I'm working out at the moment. This is the last FL track I'll release before I step it up a notch (although however, there is one last guitar pro track I'll upload later). If you want me to redo this one (nod your head), then I'll try spicing it up a bit, but for now, here's march as programmed on FL just for you! Enjoy!

Serpent Riddle Queen

Archive material: old skool PX on a 4 track versus drum machine

This ditty from 1996 did see a fair share of turntable time at the ole goth clubs..... Thought I'd share it with you, it's one of my more interesting lyrics I think...

Anyway posting the lyrics aswell because I am aware that the vocals are somewhat buried in the mix... Well, if you turn the volume up real loud, which one is supposed to :) you kinda will understand why that is...

So, hope you can enjoy, looking forward to comments etc :)

she wears a face in every mirror
spreads her scent through every sky
she answers questions never thought of
teaches why there ain't no "why"

her sacred will remains unbroken
as her name remains unspoken
covers candles with the glass
pierces straight through every mask

she's the serpent riddle queen
she's the goddess no-one sees
bends the future in her greed
feeds the suffer, spills the need

she's the angel fallen high
welcomes all to her goodbye
as she'll follow, she will lead
burns the books when shadows meet

to her door the lovers lineup
but she knows the borderline
as rivers flow towards their source
she's been broken many times
she calls the day and cuts the night
came shattered in from every side
harvest love to carry on
turns the moon, and takes the sun

she's the serpent riddle queen
she's the goddess no-one sees
highest good is highest speed
the empress of make belief

as her waves are slow decay
she who hunts, the rest all prey
a little closer, fade away
time has come to rape the day...

bits of silver, bits of gold
a set of cards that they may fold
a last embrace, a final ride
they were buried out of sight

pinch my ears and sting my eyes
find a truth within her lies
burn in heaven, fall from skies
who can understand her cries

she's the serpent riddle queen
she's the goddess, no one sees
to I might find that all is well
as she summoned up my hell

the churches ring their dying bell
break the mirrors of her spell
a little closer, fade away
time has come to rape the day...

Piano Therapy

This is... purely experimental (I want to raise some eyebrows with this one), make of this what you will. It's another digital track, this one was done on guitar pro, and the bass may be difficult to hear, but it's just for fun, playing around with a few riffs and melodies, chromatics, augmented and diminished chords. Enjoy!

P.S I might have another experimental one on here soon, done in a 5 / 4 time signature... I'll have fun working that out on FL...

we did record this one as one of three takes. it will be realeased on our demo cd with 5 pieces in total. we did record it live in our rehearsal room, with clever microphone positioning. its didgeridoo, drumkit and kpanlogos, bass with some analog beautys as effects. its not mastered yet. as i saw everyone around here upload unfinished experiments i thought it would be a good idea to give you guys a sneak preview on the rough mix of a of an analogue birds song. hope you like it somehow:-)
check www. analogue-birds.com for more
p.s. would be great if you would make the effort to rate the song.

Sound of Violent Strings

There Is The Sound Of Violent Strings, the title taken from a piece I studied in music class called There is the sound of flutes and fiddles (or in german das ist ein floten und geigen, if I remember correctly). This is a digital instrumental, like all of the stuff I've put up, but it was the first piece I wrote on FL, and I didn't quite have the know how (and still don't) to make this a clear cut piece. It has a heavy bass that, when it isn't playing, just drines throughout the track. If you like it so much (lol) that you want it redone without that in it, please say so, or if you want a remix with something else changed (again, lol) please tell me. Who knows, maybe you can help me turn this track into something of sheer beauty (for the last time, lol).
Enjoy, if you dare....

Two

ok, one more from that 6 year old demo. the best thing to do with our guitarist then was to just let him play, so I wrote this middle part to an otherwise very mellow song - in the proto-version I used a sample from 'Come Together', so go figure... :)

hope you like the 70's. enjoy!

lyrics:

I want this sweet fruit to flower
I want to drain this cup dry
Drink it up till the very last drop
Get your steamy hot head spinning
Don't stop till your out there dreamless
Weightless motionless meaningless
Should we call it bliss?

Can't you see that I am you?
That there is no longer two?

I think these horses need riding
I think they know where to go
Fearlessly fly on the wings that they seem to grow
Let the bodies flow
Don't let go till you're out there dreamless
Weightless motionless meaningless
Should we call it bliss?

Can't you feel that you are me?
That you don't need eyes to see?

10 minutes

Screaming out your name
All the applause, all for the stage
Don't think it's yours, it's just a phase
10 minutes of fame

Feeling strong, so invincible
Take on the world you feel undefeatable
Don't think you're champ for too long
It's just 10 minutes of fame

It's seem all clear
They say they're friends until the end
One day you're down, then you're sure to find out,
It's just 10 minutes of fame.

Don't hold on things they never last
What comes fast you know it also leaves fast
Just remember that it's all a phase,
It's just 10 minutes of fame,
10 minutes of shame....

This is a co-production of me and PuppetXeno.

Station

so I've tried to live my nights in black
and my days in sleep-in dreams
but now it's cold along the metal trail
where the hours on hours drip by too slow

and the wind cuts through my coat
as the lights cut through the rain
as I ache with every sigh
blinding thoughts they only dwell to strain

I stepped up into the glass
it was a scent that drove me here
it was a kiss that put me back
and I could not persevere

and so I've lived my nights in black
I lived to all my failing might
and though the lights are closing now
I shall try to stay aside

to hell with it

Here is another one we are working on. I wrote this song about justice and regret. I am not happy with vocal track but who cares I will fix it when I am not sick and have the compressor.

I went to a place in my dark soul
without a candle I had lost my way.

There I cry. for years gone by
and before it kills me I must numb the pain.

With all of the lies, inside my mind
In my rage I shall arise....to rule the world.

Suddenly under siege of blinding light
with words of terror streaming.

They spell my doom, displace my throne
and leave my conscience screaming.

The bitter venom in my veins
it gives way to fear and trembling

and beneath His awesome shadow I brace to bear the death stroke

You should tell the sea to drown me
Send lightning down to strike me
with famine you should starve me
I curse you....yet you spare me!

With coals of fire upon my head
I know that justice wants me dead

but perhaps if mercy knows my name....
Oh. remove the bloody curse of Cain

To Hell with my woundedness
To Hell with my woundedness

It's the opiate of the damned
Oh, now I understand. To hell with my woundedness.

The opiate of the damned
now I understand , to hell with my woundedness.

and beneath His awesome shadow I turn into the bliss of
grace, marvelous grace, Your grace, wondrous grace.

You are my law, my love my delight crushing my rebellion with glory and might!

Hallelujah hallelujah how good to be free. Free from rebellion hallelujah indeed.

Rocking Chair.

This is from a band I played guitar for last year called the Rockman Lovers (we took the title from an Ice Ice Baby lyric). We whipped up this little diddy to put on our schools compilation CD and I think it's a cool mindless cliche rock tune. Jammed it out instrumentally in about 10 minutes. Overall it turned out decent its not the best peice of music i've put out by far but it was just a fun little project. We recorded it in my schools studio so its ok quality. unfortuneatly the engineers were kinda shitty so some of it isn't up to the potential that it could be with the decent equiptment we have their. Watch out for the ugly harminization effect on the vocals aswell. yikes. Our singer wasn't the greatest but he got the job done. Also if you like inuendos listen to the lyrics you might get a nice laugh (We wanted to see how much we could get away with before the teacher in charge of the CD caught onto what the meaning was haha).

Your Bar Sucks

I should explain. This song is meant to be light-hearted, in a cynical kind of way. That is to say, it contains several curse words.

This is not my usual style of song-writing. It started as a poem about a bar in my fairly small hometown. It was pretty much the only place for an original rock band to play, so they kind of had local bands by the throat. Didn't pay much, but they didn't have to.

I changed the name of the song from the bar's actual name. (Coincidentally, the name of the bar is also part of a prominent Bandamp poster's handle, and I didn't want to accidentally offend him!)

I played there several times in a couple different bands, and each time something bad would happen. These events are chronicled in the lyrics. Each time, the events would become worse and worse, and the pay became less and less (Not just for us - for all performers).

So this song is dedicated to anyone who has ever been frustrated by the circumstances surrounding live low-budget performance. There's probably something in there that you can relate to.

As one last caveat... It's not that I "hate" Metallica. Hate is a strong word. But I do resent the drunken sloths that come up to an original band at an original bar and demand that the band plays some Metallica cover.

Enjoy!
